I Wish You Were Here

I tried to see the familiar city from a different perspective and imagine it completely void. Walking around Red Square with no one around could be truly unique! My friend Nikita Ryumshin and I woke up before dawn and went filming. We had to film very early in the morning to meet less people on the streets, but we still had to eliminate some passers-by in post-production.  I wanted to the scenes to look more surreal, so I added stars in the sky. It was the most complicated thing to do for me. I had never done something like this before. Secondly, operations were very difficult for my MacBook Pro. Rendering some scenes took so much time.

This film was selected as a Global Russian 2018 selection, and I had a chance to present "I Wish You Were Here" at the Russian Pavilion during the 71st Cannes Film Festival."
